The Ionian coast is rich in water and vegetation. Metaponto, built between two rivers and embraced by a thick Mediterranean vegetation, leads the remnants of a glorious past. The signs of the Metapontum, original Magna Graecia, are clear in the archaeological park, with the sacred area dedicated to Lycian Apollo,Greek Theatre, the Castrum, the Necropolis and between the imperious columns of the Temple of Hera (Palatine Tables).
